🎙 Your Tech Stack and Content Marketing Strategy

B2B Hour w/ Jeremiah Fox, Dr. Lance Knaub, Ron Sandell

Do you know what technology stack that Zillow, Redfin and Realtor.com use for property listings? You would think that it would be the Multiple Listing Service, or MLS and that it would be a single simple source of listing information, but it’s not.

Turns out, there are hundreds of MLSs all over the US, and it’s extremely burdensome to negotiate an agreement with everybody, especially once you operate nationwide. That’s why the largest aggregator websites enter data sharing agreements with big national real estate companies to get their data directly.

It’s a fascinating niche space where these major national companies dabble on the Internet, but listings aren’t the only types of data these online destinations require. They also need data about neighborhoods, schools, points of interest, demographics, past sales history and other info which improves home buying and selling experience.

This is an awful lot of data that must be sourced, scrubbed, transferred, aggregated, and then presented on the web in a user-friendly and useful manner. Can you imagine the tech stack behind all this data to make it work? This data is essentially blood in the veins for these companies, and the technology that makes it all work is like a body.

Media and Public Relations for B2B Brands and Businesses

Much like data for the aforementioned aggregators, and a tech stack to support it all, B2B brands, marketers, and business owners require something similar – content and technology. Content, or media, is like fuel. It must constantly be created to feed your target audience. And technology is necessary to produce the content and deliver it.

This is what I refer to as your Media & Public Relations strategy, a blueprint for which can be found in our B2B Demand Generation Guide.

Unfortunately, unlike data the aggregators need which can be brokered and acquired, your content must be created and produced. Yes, you can purchase SEO articles, but that’s not going to engage your audience. Only the web bots that are crawling your website.

Creating unique original content that educates, enlightens, and entertains is a stretch for the average marketer. It takes creativity and imagination, plus patience and time and for the most part, a grip with technology.

Another component is a process. Many marketers and business owners today are creating original content, but for every one person you see succeeding in this area, many more are not. Chances are it is because they do not have a process that allows them to create quality original content consistently over long periods of time, that also yields a sufficient ROI.

This month on B2B Hour, we welcome a group of content creators to the stage to discuss their content marketing strategies and share insights about the process by which they create content. Each of our four guests has a different target audience and approach with their content marketing strategy, with various levels of success so you will be able to learn not only about their achievements but also their challenges and hurdles.
