🎙 How to Turn Your Side Hustle into a Small Full-Time Business

You finally decided to take the plunge and turn that side hustle into a full-time business. Good for you. You’ve got a great product (or service). You have raving customers. You’re making money. You plan on making real money. So you’re all set, right?

Well, if you’ve ever tried having a side hustle, let alone making it a full-time business, then you are probably already familiar with the idea that, “life is what happens while you are busy making plans,” as once said by Charlie Brown and many others.

In the 6-plus years that I have been in business for myself, I can attest to multiple instances where “my plans” had to go out the door due to unplanned circumstances. Most recently of course from the COVID-19 pandemic.

But pandemics aren’t the only curveballs that can be thrown at us and our businesses, so whether you are looking to start a side hustle or take your side hustle full-time, you’re going to be better off by asking yourself a few questions…

  1. Do you have a goal? Not some mamby pamby goal to change the world, but a real goal that you can measure, like revenue.
  2. Do you have money set aside so you can keep the lights on while you grow your full-time business?
  3. If you have a family such as a spouse and/or children, are they on board? What about others who rely on you?

If you can answer yes to these three questions then you may indeed be ready to take that side hustle and turn it into a full-time business. But if not, then maybe consider this your queue to re-think what you have in mind.
