🎤 Business Coaching, Consulting, and Mentoring. What’s the difference?

To coach or not to be coached, that is the question. But before we can go there we must recognize that everybody has their own ideas about what “coaching” is. There is no right or wrong with the idea or practice of coaching. There is however a variance of expectations and accountability with these business advisory services.

Some people, for instance, want a business problem solved and do not want to be part of the solution. For this scenario, consulting is the way to go. You pay a consultant to make the problem go away.

In another scenario, you want to be the solution, or part of it at least. You want objective input on your ideas, activities, and plans. You want to improve who you are and what you do. For this, coaching is the way to go.

As for mentoring, that’s the primary thing we plan to discuss in our next episode of the B2B Hour on Wednesday July 28 featuring Hanna Hernandez, Lance Knaub, and Ron Sandell.

Conversation with Sales Pro Ron Sandell

Our first guest is Ron Sandell, a Sales Director by profession who I know through our second guest (and speaker) Lance Knaub. Every week, Lance hosts a Clubhouse room called HOT SEAT where we invite people to take center stage on the audio drop-in app. The room consists of several regular panelists who offer their input to the person in the hot seat, and ask questions.

Ron is a regular participant and he is dabbling with the idea of offering sales coaching services for sales professionals. I have been collaborating with Ron over the last several weeks and invited him to come on the air and share his experience so far working as a sales coach with various professionals, myself included.

You may recognize the name Lance Knaub because he has appeared on the B2B Hour two times now. Did you know Lance’s roots are in physical therapy? That’s right. Lance is a doctor of fitness and he takes the stage with us this month to offer up some useful tips for caring for yourself the way it deserves.

In the second half of the program we will switch into panel mode where Hanna Hernandez will join us and Ron will rejoin the stage as well. Hanna is also a regular participant of Lance’s Clubhouse room HOT SEAT who has even had the privilege of hosting the room when Lance was not able to.

Hanna joins the panel as a freelance consultant who assists businesses and individuals with various types of services. Alas, a consultant.
