With 2020 on the horizon, what are Auto Retailers evaluating and scrutinizing as 2019 comes to a close? Fixed operations seems to have become a popular subject this past year among the auto industry’s elite, and the term ‘Digital Retailing’ seems to drum up more angst than proven results for most retailers.

Is Digital Retailing finally a buzzword of the past?

Buzzwords aside, retailers have much to think about as the convergence of automotive, mobility-as-a-service, and the gig economy takes form. From growing market share, profitability, and elusive customer expectations, owners, operators, and marketers are juggling a large and growing tech stack, OEM mandates, and an over-speculated market.

This is the general focus for this month’s Advanced Auto Retail Discussion Panel. And it will be Part One of a two-panel conversation to be continued in December.

To lead the conversation, my pal Mike ‘The Car Guy’ Correra will be drawing upon his recent annual visit to the SEMA Show which occurred last week in Las Vegas.

The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world segmented into 12 sections with over 2,400 exhibitors and a New Product Showcase featuring nearly 3,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components.

The Show draws the industry’s brightest minds, hottest products and over 70,000 domestic and international buyers to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more.

And in February 2020, the annual NADA Show will be in Las Vegas. The NADA Show Expo is the auto industry’s premier marketplace of products, services and technologies specifically targeted to franchised new car dealerships. More than 700,000 square feet of exhibits highlight more than 500 manufacturers and suppliers of the hottest products and coolest technologies.

Industry leaders, manufacturers, exhibitors and other key players convene each year at the NADA Show to learn the latest tools, tactics and industry trends, see the hottest new automotive products and technologies, and make important connections with one another in the unique atmosphere that only the National Automobile Dealers Association can provide.
