Enterprise to rent Nissan EV Leaf

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has announced plans to buy 500 electric cars from Nissan to add to its fleet of rentals for 2011.

These no-emission vehicles, which do not use any gasoline, are planned to be used in the following Enterprise rental markets:

  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Tucson, Arizona
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Nashville, Tennessee
  • San Diego, California
  • Los Angeles, California
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Seattle, Washington

It is likely these markets were chosen to coincide with Nissan’s initial rollout of the all-electric LEAF in California, Washington state, Oregon, Arizona and Tennessee. The Nissan LEAF will be the vehicle of choice for Enterprise’s electric fleet.

In 2009, the American Clean Energy and Security Act authorized tax incentives of $7,500 for purchasers of all-electric vehicles like the Nissan LEAF. Enterprise Rent-A-Car will be taking advantage of that tax incentive to purchase the Nissan LEAF and provide them to their renters.
