Auto Review: 2011 Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen is aiming to move in on Toyota and try a takeover of the mid-size sedan market. The question is, can the 2011 Volkswagen Passat handle the job?

2011 Volkswagen Passat

Ever since a photo of the new Passat leaked out in June, the new ride seems to be all auto reviewers can talk about. That’s understandable despite the 2011 Passat not being a lot different than previous models. Sure, the body is a bit different but look in under the hood and it’s practically the same car as the previous years. There have been some Americanization, however. After all, how else will Volkswagen appeal to the U.S. market?

The new Passat is being manufactured in the U.S. Tennessee, to be exact.

If you’re familiar with the Passat at all then you know it fits into the luxury class alongside BMW and Mercedes Benz. So if you can picture a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord with luxury interiors and the price tag to go along with it then you can picture the new 2011 Passat. The starting MSRP is around the $28,000 ball park.

The 2011 Volkswagen Passat offers special customization kits to make the luxury exterior even more special. You can add skirts and external features to give your vehicle a better look and feel and to add more class than it already has. Volkswagen has introduced an interesting and classy vehicle into a market that has been dominated by other auto manufacturers for decades. But will consumers buy it? The least you can do is give it a test drive.
