Auto Review: 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5S

The 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5S picks up where the 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 leaves off. Both feature a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 180 pound-feet of torque at 3,900 rpm. Both also utilize the CVTCS technology on the intake valves, variable induction system, Nissan Direct Ignition System, Iridium-tipped spark plugs, Electronic Drive-by-Wire Throttle, and the Engine Balancer System.

You’ll also notice the drivetrain is similar: Front engine/front wheel drive with Xtronic CVT with manual mode.

The brakes and the suspension and steering systems are also compatible.

But the 2.5S trim has a few upgrades the lower 2.5 doesn’t have, and these include:

  • Nissan Intelligent Key
  • Dual visors with vanity mirrors
  • Digital clock in the radio
  • Driver and front-passenger seatback pockets
  • Carpeted trunk lid trim option
  • Splash guards option
  • Drag coefficient: .30 with rear spoiler option
  • AM/FM/CD audio system with 6 speakers and auxiliary audio input jack

The 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5S registers at 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway for fuel efficiency.

For security, you’ll get the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System and Vehicle Security System.

Safety features include Traction Control System, LATCH system for children, energy-absorbing steering column, and 3-point ALR/ELR seat belt system with ELR for the driver. But that only touches the surface. There are plenty more safety features on top of those. Nissan also has several upgrade packages to give more optional functionality and comfort to your 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5S. It’s worth a look and a test drive.
